  The pastor of this church refused to have the funeral of my friend's mother in the sanctuary, because, he said, she had not attended services in a long time, and she had not "requested pastoral care." She was unable to walk across the room, so attending church was out of the question. And since when is a suffering member of a congregation required to request pastoral care? It's a small town, the pastor certainly knew this long-time member of the church was very ill. Is this pastor really the best person to lead this congregation?
